6 End of Summer Home DIY Projects

The days of summer are dwindling down, and the kids will be back in school soon enough. But that doesn’t mean you have to let go of all the summer fun just yet. The weather is still fantastic, so take advantage of this time to try your hand at a few simple DIY projects.

  1. Create a Grilling Station

As the temperatures are starting to cool off a little, now is the perfect time to enjoy cookouts with your family and friends. To make the day a little easier, create an outdoor grilling station. You can find or build a simple little cart or shelving system. Stock your new station with all of the tools, platters and spices you will need for the event.

  1. Create Inviting Walkways

Even the most basic outdoor spaces are amplified when there are inviting walkways to set the ambience for the area. Lead your guests with a new walkway made from stone or concrete pavers.

  1. Clean the Deck

After a summer full of fun, it may be time to give your deck a good cleaning. An afternoon spent pressure washing your deck can give it a brand new look and feel. Top it all off with some fresh flowers and a couple new throw pillows on your outdoor furniture.

  1. Build a Gardening Station

With just a few pieces of wood, it is easy to build a simple gardening station. Not only will it look like a cute outdoor accessory, but it can also encourage a green thumb. Keep all of your supplies together and organized to make your gardening tasks even easier to complete.

  1. Install Landscape Lighting

In any space, proper lighting can make a world of difference. The same is true for landscape lighting. Line your sidewalks and walkways with simple lights to set the mood and show the way for all of your company.

  1. Build a Fire Pit

A fire pit is the perfect outdoor accessory that can be enjoyed in both the summer and the fall. There are a variety of materials that can be used to create a fire pit, and they are all pretty easy to put together. Build your very own fire pit that will match your own personal taste and style.
